Morecambe Brass Band returns to Threlkeld

[T]hrelkeld Village Hall is delighted to welcome back Morecambe brass band who first performed here in 2016 with much success.

In 2004 the brass band celebrated its centenary but then someone uncovered documents that suggested that the band was already in existence in 1894 and possibly earlier!

Over the years, the brass band has competed in regional and national competitions and has steadily risen up the Sections into which brass bands are divided.

In 1979 they were competing in the lowest Section (Section 4) but by 1993 had risen to Section 1.

They are now competing in the North West Area Championship Section and Section 1 Nationally. In 2014, they made 2 appearances on TV, first on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ and then on the live lottery show on BBC.

In 2015, they achieved 5th place in the Championship section competition, their highest ever result. In June we are expecting the full senior band of 24 players for an entertaining evening of varied music with conductor Stephen Simpson.

The concert takes place on Saturday, 9th June at 7:30pm. Bar and Box Office from 7pm. Tickets £10 (£5 under 18s) from Threlkeld Village Hall coffee shop, PO, or on-line at http://www.threlkeldvillagehall.org/whats-on where you can also see the detailed programme. Box Office Enquiries on 07733 790308.
