Keswick Advent calendar has become quite an attraction in Keswick, the calendar offers local businesses and organisations the chance to host a selection of Christmas events, every day throughout December to create a festive buzz around town. Following the festive activity, an individual window lights up in an advent countdown!

This year, the events included a Santa’s splash race on Derwentwater, carol singing, and beer tasting to name a few, plus a Christmas dog walk, arranged by Lake District Hotels Ltd, on Wednesday 18th December.

The Christmas dog walk took place on a picture-pawfect day, 27 adults and 14 dogs pawed off from Keswick’s Market Square, heading to Friars Crag & then on to Castle Head, to take in the magnificent views of Derwentwater.

Afterwards, all two-legged guests were rewarded in true Christmas fashion with a steaming glass of mulled wine & mince pies outside the hotel groups 4-star Inn on the Square, where guests gathered round to watch the 18th Christmas window light up.

An impressive number of dogs attended dressed in their finest festive attire, from Labradors, Cocker Spaniels, a Hungarian Vizler, Daschund, Airedale Terrier, Flat Coat Retriever, and Lurcher/Whippet cross. One lucky dog, Molly, a cockapoo from Temple Sowerby won best dressed festive pup, winning a wonderful Christmas hamper donated by local pet store, Podgy Paws.

Dani Hope, Director of Lake District Hotels commented, “Our six Lake District Hotels are all dog friendly, so we wanted to host an event that welcomed both humans and their pooches. We were incredibly pleased with the turnout, there was a great mix of local residents and visitors who came along to experience the Christmas atmosphere that our town is well-known for.”
