Police Scotland have confirmed the identity of the man who died following a road crash on the A74(M) near Kirkpatrick Fleming as Gary Harrison, 32, from the Preston area in Lancashire.

He was the driver and sole occupant of a silver Renault Clio which was involved in the incident near Junction 20 northbound.

It was reported around 4.05am on Monday, 6 July. No other vehicles were involved.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch, Dumfries and Galloway Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Harrison family and friends at this time.

“We are continuing with enquiries to establish the circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

“In particular we would be keen to speak to anyone who was on the road early yesterday morning and may have dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0405 of 6 July, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
