Barrow Island lead the way in the National Conference’s regionalised competition for Cumbria after a 36-16 win over local rivals Millom.
They made a flying start with two tries from Noah Robinson in the first 15 minutes and although Ross Brookes went in for a Millom score Elliott Campbell’s try gave the Islanders an 18-6 lead at the break.
Two tries in the first 13minutes of the second half from Max Moore and Nathan Sneesby virtually pocketed the points for the Island.
Although Brookes scored his second try for Millom, the visitors immediately responded with a try by Brandon Corrie. It was only consolation when Niall Harris scored alate try for the home side.
Sam Jones kicked five out of five goals for Barrow Island with Jack Newbegin landing two for Millom.
