Cumbria will host Suffolk in the quarter finals of the NCA Trophy at Barrow on Sunday July 18.
Suffolk were confirmed as runners-up in Group Three behind unbeaten Cambridgeshire after Cumbria won Group One following yesterday’s rain-off against Shropshire.
Joe Gatting, nephew of former England captain Mike Gatting, is the star name in the Suffolk line-up and has played a key role in the county’s last two games.
He played for both Sussex and Hampshire, with 1,847 first class runs at an average of 29.31 and three centuries.
Like his father Steve, he played football for Brighton.
Cumbria will go into the quarter final tie on a high after three group wins, while they were in a good position to go on and beat Shropshire at Netherfield, having them 96-6 when rain intervened.
