The Derwent Valley Federation had to abort their planned race from Garstang yesterday because of weather conditions.
There was no improvement throughout the day and with little prospect of a liberation the decision was taken to move back.
In the end the Federation birds were released for a training flight at Haverigg and were all soon back in their respective lofts.
Federation officials are now planning to try again from Garstang this coming week-end.
The West Cumberland Federation did get in a race, however, racing from Flookburgh airfield again and once more enjoying excellent returns.
It was the third race for the young birds from Flookburgh.
In the Cleator Moor club there was an especially good result for the Frizington loft of Andrew and Tom Kenmare.
They took the first six positions on the club result sheet with their winner taking 50 minutes to cover nearly 36 miles back home. All six were clocked inside 15 seconds.
CLEATOR MOOR (11 sent 625): 1, 2,3, 4,5,6,A. and T. Kenmare 1249,1248,1244,1243.7, 1243.3,1243.3.
