The Derwent Valley Federation have confirmed that they will race from Garstang this coming Saturday after the weekend race had to be aborted.
The weather wasn’t good enough for a liberation so the birds were brought back to Haverigg and released for a training flight.
Weather permitting they can fit in Garstang on Saturday and playing catch-up they will then have a mid-week race from Charnock Richard on Wednesday, August 11.
That will be followed by two races from Appleton on August 14 and 21.
The West Cumberland Federation did get in a race on Saturday. They also travelled to Garstang but were unable to liberate because of conditions.
The transporter then moved back to Carnforth looking for a race but there were so many lorries on the liberation side that was impossible.
The decision was taken to try Flookburgh airfield and for the third time in as many weeks the birds were put into the air for the short 50-minute flight home, with perfect returns.
The West Cumberland Federation will race from Charnock Richard this week-end but they will also be looking at a race from Garstang tomorrow.
