Workington Reds have extended their midweek programme by fitting in Tuesday’s postponed NPL West game at Warrington Rylands.
The west Cumbrians should have travelled there during the week but instead played at Marine in the FA Cup replay.
They will now play the Warrington side on Tuesday, October 5 by which time the regular mid-week games have ended.
After the Bank Holiday Monday trip to new League leaders Clitheroe, Reds play midweek games against Trafford (away, September 7) and manager Chris Willcock’s old club, Ramsbottom (home, September 14).
Reds’ face a key weekend with matches at home to Marine, who are second in the table, while Clitheroe on Monday represents a clash with the side that went top after the 7-1 destruction of Bootle on Wednesday.
Although Reds brought in two new players last night – defender Kyle Harrison and winger Rowan Roache – they still have several players nursing injuries.
Two, in particular, recent recruit Liam Lightfoot and Robbie Hebson face long spells on the side-lines.
Hebson had a scan on a troublesome knee injury, which occurred in an FA Cup-tie at Knaresborough early last season and needs an operation.
Willcock said: “It looked horrendous and to be honest I don’t know how he managed to get through pre-season training.”
