Do you or anyone you know suffers from cluster headaches?

Cluster headaches are a rare type of severe headache and the main symptom is attacks of severe pain in one side of your head, often felt around your eye.

If so you might be interested in joining the next Headache Forum held by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The Headache Forum hopes to offer headache and migraine sufferers some help and support from leading experts from the Trust as well as guest speakers.

The free event will be held over Microsoft Teams and is for members of the public and patients as well as medical professionals to join. The forum will be dedicated to the management of cluster headaches. It will provide insight into the pathophysiology of the condition, pharmacological management and neuromodulation.

The speakers will be Dr Jitka Vanderpol, Consultant Neurologist and Headache expert, Siobhan Jones, Headache Nurse Consultant from Cumbria. The guest speaker is Dr Manjit Matharu Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. Dr Matharu is considered a headache expert, recognised worldwide.

Feedback from attendees of previous Headache forums has been overwhelmingly positive. A previous participant said who has suffered from migraines for over 25 years said: “Huge thanks for the wonderful presentations and excellent interactive format. I can’t praise you enough for holding this; it really felt that we were being heard and our experiences taken note of.”

Dr Jitka Vanderpol, consultant neurologist and honorary senior clinical lecturer at UCLAN said: “We are now running this event with the hope and expectation we can reach more people without them having to travel.

“Our forum is supported by Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headache UK and British Association for the Study of Headaches, we expect participants from the whole of the UK”.

The event will start at 1.30pm and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers at 3.15pm.

Registration is free. Full details here.
