Barrow face a tricky away trip in the first round of the FA Cup on November 6 when they travel to Banbury.
The Southern League Premier Division Central team beat Bath City 1-0 on Saturday, watched by more than 1,500 fans, to book their place in the first round.
Known as The Puritans, the side are currently third in the table and have two games above the two ahead of them, trailing leaders Peterborough Sports by seven points.
They are managed by Andy Whing, a full-back who played 106 League games for Coventry; 103 for Brighton and 103 for Oxford in a career which ran from 2003 to 2015. During his closing spell with Oxford he became a cult hero on the terraces.
He started his coaching career with Kidderminster Harriers in 2017 and two years later joined Hereford, working under a former manager Russell Slade.
Whing was appointed as manager of Banbury in May 2020 with his former Oxford United team-mate James Constable as his assistant.
If a team is cast in the mould of its manager Banbuury will be hard-working, totally committed side who might provide a potential banana skin for Barrow next month.
At the moment, though, Barrow manager Mark Cooper is just focused on the League and anxious to make amends for Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Port Vale.
Olly Banks, on his return from suspension had given Barrow a first-half lead but the warning sides were already there as they still led 1-0 at the break.
Port Vale scored three times in the second half to win the game, and Cooper wasn’t happy with how the goals they conceded were presented to them.
