Hundreds of Christmas gifts were donated to the elderly across Kendal, thanks to a home care company.
Home Instead South Lakes launched its Be A Santa campaign in the run-up to Christmas and people and groups helped the firm distribute them to the local elderly population who may not have received a gift this year otherwise.
The campaign, in i second year, was supported by local businesses and individuals, and co-ordinated in partnership with Morrisons supermarket in Kendal, which provided a donation point.
Kendal Fire Service helped to distribute the gifts to the elderly, including to residents at Manna House, Silver Howe, Jenkins Crag and Riverside Care Home, the Lunch Bunch Group, Impact Housing, Dementia Singing Group and the Salvation Army, with firefighters from White Watch adding some extra festive cheer and safety advice along the way.
Community champion at Morrisons in Kendal, Kirsty Ireland, said: “We were delighted to support Home Instead’s ‘Be a Santa’ campaign again this year and be part of the joy it brings to the wider Kendal community.”
Rachel Sanders, recruitment and community engagement co-ordinator at Home Instead South Lakes, said: “Once again, the generosity and kindness of our local community has shone through. Christmas can be a lonely time of year for some, the campaign has enabled us to bring a little seasonal happiness to those who may not have otherwise received a gift or visit. Thank you to all involved for their help and support.”
