Marathon Man Gary McKee has outlined how he gets through his monumental challenges as he continues his Three Six Five Challenge.
Today Gary will run the 14th of 365 marathons – one a day throughout 2022 – to raise more money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
He’s set his sights on raising £1 million for the two charities in a challenge that will see him rack up over 9,500 miles.
He had raised more than £30,000 before he even started his Three Six Five Challenge.
Last year he raised over £200,000 for the charities by running 100 consecutive marathons.
“The amount of people that come with you helps. Then what you are doing inspires other people to do something and you are inspired yourself when you see how much money is raised and how much difference you have made.
“Sometimes you have to remind yourself why you started in the first place. Sometimes it can be difficult when you are not feeling yourself or there is something at work or at home that influences your mindset.
“You have some dark times but it doesn’t remain like that all the time. You work through them and take the positive influences from people around you.”
