Velo Club Cumbria start series of time trials

Alistair Moffat who won the Bassenthwaite Lake time trial organised by Velo CC

The Velo Club Cumbria have started their series of time trials which will be a regular event in the coming months.

Local ‘Ironman’ Allistair Moffat won the Bassenthwaite Lake TT in impressive fashion.

The Cockermouth racer tackled the undulating 16-mile course around Bassenthwaite Lake in a time of 36 minutes and 57 seconds at an average speed of 25.98mph.

Moffat was 23 seconds clear of Brian Payton in second place with Sam Wedgwood third in a time of 37.58.

VCC run time trials on Tuesday evenings from April to September.

They continue tomorrow night with the Chapel Brow 10-mile time trial. The sign-on is from 6pm on the old road in front of the Melbreak Hotel at Little Clifton.
