Cumbria pigeons at Guernsey have been held over for a second day on the island.
Poor conditions on the south coast prevented a liberation yesterday and today the problem was more to do with the strength of the wind.
Ferries have been cancelled for 18 hours as the 40mph wind on the channel, gusting to 50mph, has been causing problems.
Monday’s weather looks more favourable – as it has done since the birds left Cumbria on Friday – and the convoyer will look again early tomorrow.
More than 400 Cumbrian birds have been transported to the Channel Island and they are part of a convoy from across the north-west.
