Dan Bewley is in good heart ahead of tonight’s British Grand Prix at Cardiff after his Friday practice session.
The Maryport star, who is riding in Poland and Sweden this year, is looking forward to his first British Grand Prix after the semi-final in the last two events.
“Practice has gone well and I feel great, looking forward to tonight,” said Bewley.
The Cumbrian set the second fastest time of practice behind Australian Jack Holder – the pair who came into the Grand Prix at the start of the season only after the exclusion of the Russians.
Dave Payne, who used to be Workington Comets; official photographer was at Cardiff for the practice sessions and provided some action shots for Cumbria Crack.
Meanwhile former Comets rider Charles Wright was celebrating a national triumph last night when he and Lewis Kerr won the Championship Pairs title.
Redcar won the Pairs for the first time as Wright and Lewis Kerr triumphed at Oxford.
The Bears duo secured a 7-2 in the Final against Poole, with their job in that race made much more straightforward when Pirates man Steve Worrall suffered mechanical trouble at the start.
Redcar had beaten Glasgow in their semi-final, although Benjamin Basso completed an unbeaten individual display for the Tigers, whilst Poole overcame Leicester in the other semi.
Bears co-promoter Jamie Swales said: “To win any national silverware is a proud moment but what a way to do it, they both were on it all night and they were the best performers on the night.
“Poole and Leicester rode really well, but I would have backed our guys over any of them. Out of all of the teams, our boys had the best team-riding and that was what it’s all about.”
Wright, who spent four years at Derwent Park as a Workington rider, is also a former British champion.
