Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson expects to have a new defender in the squad later in the week.
Speaking after last night’s abandoned League Two clash at Grimsby, Simpson said he had received the board’s backing to bring in another player.
“We had a conversation about the need for another body, particularly as we have a number of players missing through injury, and they agreed.
“They are finding the money to enable me to bring in another defender and that has to be applauded,” said the United boss.
Simpson had no arguments with the game being called off after 27 minutes.
Heavy and persistent rain – almost of Biblical proportions – left one particular part of the Grimsby pitch covered in water.
“It was the right decision to call it off because it was getting to be unsafe for the players.
“I’m just relieved that we are going home with no more injuries – even if we have to come back and try again at a later date,” said Simpson.
Carlisle are on their travels again on Saturday when they visit Stevenage, whose 1-0 win against bottom side Rochdale last night took them to fourth in the table.
