
Two people have died following a collision in the early hours in the Lake District.
Police were called at 12am yesterday, Thursday, September 8, to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A65 at Stainton.
The collision involved a black Citroën Saxo and a white Vauxhall Antara.
Both occupants from the Saxo, a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, from Kendal, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Antara, a 36-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
The road was closed for a number of hours while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
