Cumbria’s Lovingly Artisan has picked up a top accolade at this year’s Baking Industry Awards.

Three members of the team, Aidan Monks, Catherine Connor and Dean Fletcher, attended the black-tie event in London, hosted by actress Sally Phillips.

Lovingly Artisan won the Speciality Bread Product category for its malted barley sourdough tin loaf, following months of judging, involving interviews, product testing and site visits.

Aidan and Catherine said: ‘’It’s a real honour to be shortlisted alongside the other finalists in this year’s BIAs, let alone win the Specialist Bread Product award category.

“The annual BIA awards are without doubt the biggest event in the baking industry calendar. It’s really important for the industry that we have the opportunity to celebrate excellence across the sector and perhaps more importantly to be able to have the opportunity to encourage even more bakers to think about helping to put quality, wholesome, healthy breads at the heart of every family table once more.’’

Amy North, editor of British Baker, said: “These awards recognise the best and brightest that the baking industry has to offer, from the skilled artisan baker to industrial manufacturers,” said

“We aim to shine a spotlight on wonderful bakeries of all sizes and the goods they produce, ranging from hearty staples that help keep the nation full to indulgent treats for celebrations.”
