A temporary one-way system will be introduced in Carlisle City centre while workers resurface a major road.
Contractors will start resurfacing London Road – from Chertsey Grove to Eastern Way – from Monday, November 21 for five days.
Traffic heading out of the city in a southerly direction will have to follow the one-way system while northbound drivers will be diverted via Eastern Way, Warwick Road, The Crescent and Botchergate.
Councillor Keith Little, Cumbria County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We would like to thank the community and businesses for their continued support, while we improve the road network.
“We understand that these resurfacing plans may cause some disruptions and we do apologise for this.
“As a result of the temporary one-way traffic system, we hope to keep traffic flowing, but we encourage people to plan their routes in advance, allowing extra time for their journeys.
“Again, we appreciate the support and patience of the community as we work to make London Road safer and smoother for everyone.”
