Very special hen sees seventh win at Workington Victoria show

John and Andrew Edgar’s six year old dark hen that has now won seven shows after her latest success at Workington Victoria.

A very special hen won the Workington Victoria show last night – it’s seventh success in the show pen.

John and Andrew Edgar of Keswick have now won five times at the Victoria club, once at Gretna and once at Flimby with the six-year-old.

She is a Tommy Gilbertson x Jan Arden dark chequer and looked a picture for her latest success.

The show had 50 entries and were judged by Barry Irving and David Lofthouse who gave tickets to:

1st, J. and A. Edgar

2nd, D. Wilson

3rd, McLuckie bros

4th, Martindale and Lawman

5th, McLuckie bros

6th, D. Wilson

7th J. and A. Edgar

8th, Blacklock and sons

Next week’s show is for young cocks, judging in the Union Jack Club to start at 7-30pm

The Flimby HS show for young cocks had 73 entered and the class was judged by Mark Rudd and John Gregg.

They gave tickets as follows:

1st McLuckie Bros

2nd Bromley & Co

3rd L. Tinnion

4th Williams and Hadfield

5th Fitzsimmons & Son

6th Bromley and co

7th McLuckie bros

8th McLuckie bros

A total of £136.50 was paid out in prize money and next Wednesday’s show is for young hens.
