Cumbria Cricket Club’s Development side have five games organised for the 2023 season.
The Development side is an important stepping stone to the National Counties side and a number of players have been training hard throughout the winter.
Coaches Dave Fallows, Graham Clark and Richard Ellwood have been leading the sessions which will come to a close on Sunday, April 2.
Up to 18 players have taken advantage of the winter coaching on offer and the April 2 conclusion will have seen 18 sessions taken place.
Dave said: “It showed great commitment from all involved, with fantastic attention to detail and focus on skill development, specific red and white ball plans.
“We have also had 10 lads away in Australia or New Zealand playing cricket.
“Priorities for the winter were to find two new seamers to give us more options to support the captain, identify and invite new faces to the group which I am pleased to report we have done both.
“We have a new look squad including a number of juniors joining the main group who will get their chance in the development team or senior team. The lads have reacted extremely well to an extended winter programme which has had the bonus of Graham coaching alongside Richard and myself.
“We have a T20 evening game agreed with Penrith Cricket Club on Wednesday April 12, 5pm start. Obviously it needs to dry up considerably for that to happen!”
Slotted into the diary are the following fixtures for the Development team:
- May 2 v Northumberland Development at Kendal (50 overs)
- May 4 v Cheshire Academy at Haverigg (50 overs)
- June 7 v Staffordshire Senior Development at Bignall End (50 overs)
