Maryport staged another successful programme of youth rugby at the Athletic Ground over the weekend.
The club’s Under-7s played Cockermouth while the Under-8s and Under-9s had matches with Seaton.
Weather conditions were perfect and the matches were watched by an excellent turnout of parents and other family members.
Coach Simon Pattinson said: “It was all that is good about amateur rugby league and we had three fantastic games.
“The defensive work, in particular, was quite outstanding from the teams involved.”
There was special mention for Maryport’s man of the match in the Under-7s – Harlow Scholey.
He’s the son of Workington Town captain Stevie Scholey and it’s clearly rubbed off on the youngster whose fierce, defensive work was outstanding for such a small player.

Maryport also staged a Masters game over the weekend while their senior side were not involved in Cumberland ARL action.
“We have Wath Brow A next weekend so that is going to be a test and we are all looking forward to a good week’s preparation ahead of that,” said Pattinson.
