Two former Workington riders scored well for Edinburgh last night in advance of their National Development League clash against the Comets a week today.
Edinburgh were making it back-to-back home wins in the National Development League with a 52-37 victory over Kent at Armadale.
Ex-Comet Adam Roynon scored a 12-point maximum whilst both former Workington youngster Kyle Bickley and Jacob Hook scored 13+1 and were unbeaten until Royals’ No.1 Ben Morley won the last race.
Morley top-scored for the visitors with 10 whilst their other wins came from Tom Woolley, Rhys Naylor and Connor King.
Monarchs Academy boss Scott Wilson said: “The team were excellent, exactly what I was looking for. The top three were all unbeaten until Heat 15, and they did their job on and off the track.
“They helped the others, and when Kyle Bickley had a machine problem the first out offering a machine was Jacob Hook. It’s a real team.”
The new-look Comets, who were holding their official practice at Northside today, will be making their bow in the NDL next Saturday.
Oxford have swooped for Ryan Kinsley as a new signing ahead of their National Development League opener against Leicester.
Kinsley joins the Chargers as a replacement for the injured Nathan Stoneman and will make his Chargers debut when they face the reigning champions at Cowley on Wednesday.
Manager Peter Schroeck said: “We’re really pleased to have Ryan on board this year.
“Replacing a rider of Nathan’s talent wasn’t going to be easy and it was a big blow when we learnt he’d be out for a long period of time with his shoulder injury.
“But Ryan is more than capable at this level and as a team we’ll work with him to get him dialled into the Sandy Lane circuit quickly.”
