Cumbria Cricket League plan to remember the contribution to the local game made by the late Arthur Lamb.
Arthur died suddenly late last year and the league aim to purchase a new Premier Division Trophy for the champions which will be a permanent memorial to the much loved and respected official.
The league has launched a JustGiving page and hope to raise £1,500 and purchase a suitable trophy in his memory.
Arthur, 31, died suddenly at his Distington home in January. He was a member of the Cumbria Cricket League committee and Umpires Federation secretary as well as secretary of the Whitehaven club where he coached the juniors.
Whitehaven cricket colleague Arthur Brown said: “He was just an all-round good guy who loved his cricket and the local community.”
Outside of cricket he was a Conservative Cumbria County Councillor first elected in 2017, when he served as member for Cleator Moor and Frizington. He was also shadow cabinet member for customers, transformation and fire and rescue and the youngest member of the County Council.
