Workington Town’s top try scorer Sean Sabutey is enjoying a fine start to his career in England.
Sabutey is closing in on his best-ever scoring tally – and he’s also hoping to impress the Irish selectors ahead of the next RL World Cup.
Although he is a Ghana international – and proud of it – Sabutey also qualifies for Ireland through his mother and would like to record a family double by earning international selection.
His best try-scoring season was COVID-affected for St Mary’s in Australia when he bagged 18 touchdowns, and so far with Town he has managed 15 with 11 of them coming in League One.
Sabutey has been talking to Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh about his time in Workington and how much he is enjoying his rugby at Town.
He was speaking at the launch of the new naming rights for Derwent Park which will now be known as the Fibrus Community Stadium.
John Walsh speaks to Gary Murdock
John also took time to speak to Town’s chief executive/general manager Gary Murdock about what the new sponsorship deal meant to the club.
They also developed the conversation to talk about Town’s progress from last year’s cash flow problems and their aims and targets ahead of the planned move to a shared new stadium.
