Cumbria will do their bit for Lancashire’s preparation for their Royal London Cup campaign.
It will be the third time since the introduction of these showcase games across the country that Cumbria have taken on Lancashire at Sedbergh School on July 30.
With the game being 50 overs per side Lancashire will again be using the game as a warm-up to their knockout programme as they will be playing Essex at Sedbergh School on the following Tuesday.
As the match is being held at Sedbergh School it could be described as a home match both sides, being in Cumbria yet at a ground which Lancashire use as an out-ground.
Cumbria officials say they are grateful to Lancashire County Cricket for organising the match along with Sedbergh School as hosts.
A County spokesman said: “The match is free for supporters to attend and everyone involved hopes that we will be more fortunate with the weather than last year.
“Then only a reduced match of 22 overs per side was possible due to rain leading up to and on the morning of the match when the sun only appeared 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start of play.
“A delayed start was necessary and play eventually started after 3pm with Lancashire winning by 44 runs.”
Lancashire will again be short of several of their star players, absent due to their involvement in the Hundred. For instance there will be no chance of international and former Cumbria County players Richard Gleeson or Liam Livingstone playing in the fixture.
“They should nevertheless be able to field a strong side including the likes of their captain Keaton Jennings, Dane Vilas and Steven Croft as well as rising stars such as George Bell and George Balderson as they will be using the game as preparation for their Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.
Car parking will be available close by (£5). The match is scheduled to start at 11am. Free entry.
