A special prize was put on for the final pigeon race of the season for the West Cumbria Amalgamation in memory of a popular Whitehaven fancier.

Sylvia Davidson, wife of John Davidson from the Sandwith club, and his son Colin donated £100 special for the first cock bird clocked from Cheltenham.

This week Colin was able to go along and present the cheque to Kevin Evans, of the Workington Victoria club.

The blue cock which has won is off Kevin’s Lambrecht lines which he originally obtained from Steve Foster some years ago.

Meanwhile members of the Amalgamation will be meting at the Whitehaven Miners club on Saturday (3pm) for the special presentations to the prize winners from the big money A ring race from Weymouth.

As well as the presentation members will be showing their prowess at darts, dominoes and pool in a special West Cumberland Federation v Rest of the World showdown!
