There was Sunday action for HTA followers at Middle Moss as they had a five-card meeting to enjoy.

The seniors got things off to a good start with a slip of nine runners. Champion elect Winterfell was running again and as they crossed the first road he was leading the pack.

Huntsman’s Rebel was running but was slightly off the pace. When they showed back on the finish Winterfell had twenty yards lead on Shine On and crossed the line to notch up his 27th win of the season for Barry Laidler and Caroline Clough

Christopher Henderson’s Shine On finished well in second place with Neil and Gillian Brown and Derek and Joel Bulman’s Dundee taking third.

Winterfell’s kennel mate Ron finished in fourth with Ian Donaldson’s Huntsman’s Quartz in fifth. Willie and Daphne Mark’s Summer Spirit took sixth with Huntsman’s

The open pups were next with a slightly smaller slip of seven hounds. There was no Rodney Raider, taking a well-earned rest with the pressure off him now for the Puppy championship title.

Huntsman’s Sparkle was running and would just need to overcome her reluctance to finish to take the win as she has speed to burn.

As they showed on the finish there were two hounds running closely together on the trod and it was Light Up for Christopher Henderson and Huntsman’s Sparkle.

In the end Light Up just kept his head in front and managed to cross the line in first place with Huntsman’s Sparkle staying on to finish second.

Denton Fury for Lee Wall finished well in third place with Colin Satterthwait’s Thorn Gift taking fourth. Sportsman finished fifth and Denise Bland’s Huntsman’s Sunshine took the sixth ticket. The win was the first in the puppy championship for Light Up.

Next to slip were the Puppy Maiden’s with only five runners. Spring Remedy was out running again after her determined run around Millstone Moor on Saturday.

As they came onto the finish there were four out of the five together and it was Brain Shaw and Marianne Nixon’s Lucky Chance who had a yard or so on Jenny Horn’s Spring Remedy.

But just before they got to the line Castle Callant just past Spring Remedy to take second. Delta Samba finished in fourth place and then a little way back Delta Salsa took the fifth and final ticket.

The third place for Spring Remedy moves her up to third in the puppy maiden points competition with only two puppy maiden trails left she cant win but she could get the runners-up place if she continues to ticket.

The Open Restricted race was next with five runners. Eden Rayna would have been the favourite to win and as sure as anything she came on the finish on her own and won nicely for David Clifford from Fire Lady in second place and Missriff in third place. Maggie Moon and Fire Dancer took the last two tickets.

The last race of the day was for the veterans with only three runners. Forlorn Spring was looking to extend his lead at the top of the veteran points competition and there was no Huntsman’s Major.

As they came on the finish it was the local hound Delta Script for Sarah Harper who crossed the line with a good lead from Forlorn Spring in second and then Castle Clansman in third place to round off a good days trailing.

Forlorn Spring now has a 17 point lead over Huntsman’s Major with only two veteran trails left so can’t be beat for the tittle.

Action moves back to Seaton for the final race of the season there on Tuesday. It’s a three-card meeting with the first trail slipping at 3.15pm.
