A new Cumbrian competition firm has been created to help change people’s lives.

Set up four months ago, Lake District Giveaways has already given away £180,000 to local winners.

The biggest winner so far – with a cool £10,000 – is Nina Robinson, of Appleby. And the men behind Lake District Giveaways say the sky is the limit.

Alex Hawkin, 29, Thomas Dadley and Michael Nowak, both 31, are from the Penrith area.

The three friends are immensely proud of their success so far.

Local charities are also winners

Michael said: “We set it up to change people’s lives – we know it’s a cliche but that was our aim.

“As well as our prize winners, local charities are winners too.”

The trio said that they have so far donated £250 each to 4Eden, Jigsaw Children’s Hospice and CRY for EDEN; paid for new football goalposts for Yanwath School and donated £500 to Plumpton School’s new canteen fundraiser.

They readily welcome suggestions for donations but Alex said: “We have had a few good suggestions lately – so don’t be disheartened if you haven’t heard back and you are reading this! Being only four months old we have to be sensible with them – but our inbox is always open!”

Thomas added: “This is important to us as these little donations can make a huge difference in the local area and we are all keen to help out the local community as much as possible.”

Free competitions

The trio also run free interactive competitions – including two supermarket sweeps and a free fuel Friday.

Michael said: “This took place at Ullswater Road Garage in Penrith. The contestants had to fill up their vehicle to the amount they told us however they only had three squeezes of the pump to land on the exact amount to the penny.

“If they succeeded we then paid for their fuel, however, if they failed we didn’t pay.

“We like to do these little free ones as a way of giving back to the community a lot more personally than charities.

“Contestants enter these by being the first to arrive at the location which we keep a secret till we are ready to play.

“We have some really good free giveaway competitions coming up in the very near future and the best way to take part is follow our social media channels for updates.”

How to play

You can win a Focus RS – or take the £20,000 cash alternative – in Lake District Giveaways’ latest competition. There are also £50,000 in instant wins.

It costs £2.99 per entry – or 10 tickets for £25 – and will be drawn on Sunday, November 12.
