A Lake District hotel chain is asking people to nominate their favourite charity for it to back in 2024.

The family-owned Lake District Hotels, which runs six hotels, wants people to come forward with a Cumbrian organisation it can support for the next 12 months.

Over the past decade, Lake District Hotels has supported Cumbrian charities and causes from raising vital funds for Amy’s Care in 2016 and Blood Bikes Cumbria in 2017 to raising £35,000 to produce an entire Great British Bake Off style food technology kitchen for Keswick School in 2019.

Most recently, the hotel group raised over £7,000 for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, who were the group’s Charity of the Year from late 2022 through to the end of 2023.

Dani Hope, director of Lake District Hotels, said: “It was a pleasure to have spent the last year raising vital funds for Jigsaw and we are excited to continue the tradition of supporting local charities. With so many deserving causes in the local area, we find it so hard to choose one to give our full focus to which is why we are seeking the help of the public.”

Each hotel has played its part in hosting fabulous charity events from gala dinners to ladies’ race days, raffles to quiz nights and more, which have all raised vital funds for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice. In addition to supporting a dedicated Charity of the Year, Lake District Hotels has also donated gift vouchers to local charitable causes throughout 2023.

The six hotels comprising Lake District Hotels group – Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, Borrowdale Hotel, Inn on the Square, Skiddaw Hotel and Kings Arms Hotel which are all located in and around Keswick, and the Inn on the Lake which is situated on the shores of Ullswater – are ready to continue their hard work in raising money for a worthy cause, the firm said.

To nominate a charity, community project or initiative which is based in Cumbria, to become Lake District Hotels Ltd.’s Charity of the Year in 2024, fill out the form here: www.lakedistricthotels.net/nominate-your-charity
