
The recent wet weather postponed over half of Saturday’s scheduled Cumberland County League fixtures, however three games did go ahead.
In the Premier Division, Whitehaven Miners Social travelled to Wigton Harriers in a game that finished 1-1. Bradley O’Pray scored for the Miners with the Wigton goal coming courtesy of Liam Lightfoot.
In Division One, Silloth earned their second win of the season after beating Mirehouse 5-4 in a thrilling encounter.
Jackson Slack (2), Kian Orchard, Liam Wilson and Carl Dobson all banged in goals for Silloth. Callum Wilson (2), Ryan Smith and Bradley Dryden provided the goals for Mirehouse.
Elsewhere, the Whitehaven Cup kicked off this weekend with Workington Reserves hosting Bransty Rangers and it was the home side who advanced into the next round with a 4-1 win.
Harry Watson with a double, Cain Pears and an own goal set-up a quarter final tie against Maryport Athletic for the Reds. Steven Starkie netted for Bransty.
