Thursday night saw the last of the three trial trails held at Buttermere and the weather had turned.
Many who attended the last event had been hopeful that it would be a nice sunny evening, but as usual at Buttermere it has its own little climate and as a result the hound trailers had to put up with another wet night.
But everyone was in good spirits and with reduced numbers of hounds everyone was just pleased to give the hound a run and then head back home to get dried out!
The pups slipped first with a select field of eight runners. Denise and Jenny Bland, Graeme Little and Lisa Crosby’s Huntsman’s Time was running and would have been odds on favourite to win if there had been any betting.
The little hound Tina, as she is called, didn’t disappoint and finished in first place well in front of any competition.
Denise and Jenny’s Bland and Graeme Little’s other hound Huntsman’s Trouble finished in second place finishing well to beat home Brian and Joy Lister’s Minnie Million.
Huntsman’s Trouble is one of the pups bred by Carol Jackson and is out of Charisma and Cuckoo Lane while Minnie Million is one of last year’s Championship title winner Winterfell’s litter.
The senior hounds were next to slip with 13 runners and the Foxparke team was back in the tickets with their hound Foxparke Honk Honk finishing well to beat Missriff and Trinket.
Last to run were the All-Ins again with a slip of thirteen runners and it was Lady Million and Charisma who were finishing well together.

In the end it was Lady Million, for Brian and Joy Lister, who just got up to win from Stanley and Carol Jackson’s Charisma. The Foxparke team gained their second ticket of the night with Foxparke Side Kick finishing in third place.
A special thank you goes to Carol and Stanley Jackson who sponsored all three trial trails; to Ricky Deacon for running the three trial trails and to Robert Wilkinson, the local farmer who gave permission for the trial trails to take place on his land.

There was also a thank you to Margaret Pattinson, Christine Brownlee and Phil Graham who provided the raffle prizes and special prizes for the All In trails.
They were Easter eggs all round, which was very popular with some of the attendants, especially the Foxparke team who seemed to go home with the most eggs, much to their delight.
Buttermere was the last of the official trial trails in March and as we approach the weekend the first Championship trails will take place with a four card meeting at Low Place tomorrow to get things off to a good start followed by a four card meeting on Easter Sunday at Oulton.
