
Kendal Town are a point away from earning a play-off place in the North West Counties Premier Division.
They are currently in the final play-off berth heading into the final League game of the season at Burscough tomorrow.
The Mintcakes are a point behind Padiham and two points clear of Chadderton and Prestwich Heys. Jimmy Marshall’s men have a much superior goal difference than the two teams below them.
Prestwich Heys were surprisingly thumped 6-0 at home last night by Charnock Richard while Padiham won 3-0 at Ramsbottom.
So the spotlight will be on the four teams tomorrow in their final games and the fixtures are – 4th, Padiham 80 pts, + 31 GD, Lower Breck (8th, away); 5th, Kendal 79, + 28, Burscough (19th, away); 6th, Chadderton 77, + 18, West Didsbury and Chorlton (16th, home); 7th, Prestwich Heys 77, + 17, Pilkington 20th, away).
In the Northern League Carlisle City have an important home game against current leaders Bishop Auckland who are looking for four points from their last four games to clinch the title.
City are currently in 8th place but it’s been a good campaign for Jim Nichols’ men as they have been in contention for a play-off place until a disappointing final month put paid to their chances.
Neighbours Penrith play their final game of the season at home to North Shields and after a difficult start to the campaign, having to play all their games away, they have had an encouraging conclusion.
They go into the game in good heart after a 7-0 win at relegated Sunderland RCA last week and manager Darren Edmondson wants to finish on a high
In the West Lancashire League Premier Division Whitehaven play their final home game against Tempest United, which is 12th against 14th.
The West Cumbrians are 11 points clear of their visitors, who do have five games in hand.
Cleator Moor Celtic had a very good 1-0 win at Lostock St Gerard’s last week when a penalty from Brad Rooney clinched the points.
Tomorrow they travel to Wyre Villa, who are currently next to bottom and battling to get in their outstanding fixtures. They lost in mid-week 6-0 at St. Gerard’s and also 4-1 to Blackpool Wren Rovers.
In the Wearside League Windscale were encouraged by a 10-0 win in midweek and hope they can follow-up with another win when they host Wolviston tomorrow.
