Townend, near Windermere

Explore this traditional Lakeland farmhouse decorated for the season with natural foliage, crackling open fires and festive heritage food displays to feast your eyes on.
Allan Bank, Grasmere

Take a moment to slow down at Allan Bank this Christmas. Enjoy a wintery walk in the garden with frosty views across Grasmere, keeping an eye out for the resident red squirrels.
Explore the house decked with natural Christmas decorations, try your hand at a Christmas craft and warm up by the roaring fire.
If you have dog, why not bring them along to the Santa Paws Festive Photo Studio to create a family portrait together?
There will be props on hand and photographer Shaun Barris there from 10am until 3pm on December 1 and December 8.

On those days there will be carol singing in the house with Grasmere Glee. The house is open Tuesday to Thursday and Sundays plus Saturday December 21.
Fell Foot, Newby Bridge
A stroll round the lakeshore park can be magical at this time of year. It’s a great place to meet up with family or friends.

The Boathouse Café is dog friendly offering a warming winter menu including mince pies, pie and mash with gravy and festive hot chocolates.
Aira Force, Ullswater

Winter is perhaps the best time to visit Aira Force – the waterfall is at its best after a spate of rain so wrap up warm, feel the spray and blow away the winter cobwebs as it roars down the 65ft drop.
Spot fir trees decorated by local school children and illuminated with colourful lights on December 13 & 14 and December 20 & 21, 4.30pm to 7pm.
Aira Force is open daily.
Sizergh, near Kendal
Escape the hustle and bustle to make memories with loved ones at Sizergh this Christmas.
You’ll follow enchanting light and sound installations, discover a story of Christmas past in the house, and get creative with festive crafts in the Great Barn. Plus hot chocolate, mulled wine, mince pies, stocking fillers and locally sourced gifts are on offer. From November 22 to December 24, booking essential.
