What if your next job wasn’t just something to get through – but something you actually looked forward to?

Lifeguarding at Whinfell Forest isn’t just about keeping people safe.

It’s about helping guests relax, smile, and make memories – and leaving each shift knowing you’ve played a part in that.

And if you’re looking for a job that feels different – a stepping stone, a confidence boost, or your very first step into the world of work – here’s what to expect.

More than just a job by the pool

This isn’t your local leisure centre.

The Subtropical Swimming Paradise at Whinfell Forest is a fully immersive experience – slides, wave pools, wild water rapids, and tropical temperatures all year round.

As a Lifeguard, you’ll help guests of all ages enjoy their time in the water safely and confidently – and yes, you do get to test the slides (for safety reasons, of course).

It’s a brilliant role for building confidence, communication skills and teamwork – and if you do want to progress, the path is there.

Many Center Parcs managers started as lifeguards, and there’s even an assistant manager role available right now.

“I really wanted a change. I still wanted to interact with guests, but I also wanted something fresh and more challenging.”

That’s what Layla said when she joined as a Lifeguard at Whinfell Forest.

She completed her NPLQ after joining, with training fully funded by Center Parcs.

“The support from the management team was brilliant – not just during training, but once I was on the job too,” she adds.

Why do people stay?

The pay is competitive, the training’s fully covered, and shifts are planned in advance so you know where you stand.

You’ll get access to free gym and leisure facilities, discounts on Center Parcs breaks, and a supportive team who make the job feel genuinely rewarding – whether you’re here for a season or the start of a career.

Getting here is easy – by bus or car

If you’re based in Carlisle or Penrith, you can catch the Stagecoach 104 – and Center Parcs will cover the cost. Free staff parking is also available if you’re driving.
