In week two of the Derwent Valley Asbestos Removals Snooker League, Ryan Ismay continued his strong start to the season with a second successive whitewash.
Ismay made a fast start with a comfortably opener against Dave Chapman.
Chapman quickly recovered to find his recent good form, as the more competitive progressed down to a deciding black.
Chapman had first chance to open his account, but was unable to convert and Ismay took full advantage to extend his lead. Full of confidence, Ismay powered towards victory taking the third and fourth frames with relative ease.
Chapman showed his determination in the final frame building a steady lead, however a crucial miss presented Ismay with an opportunity which he duly took, producing a closing 44 clearance to deliver the clean sweep and take the lead in Division 1.
Kevin Basnett displayed some of his steady scoring ability, against rival Peter O’Hagan, that has seen him to multiple league titles.
A break of 37 in the first was sufficient to open a lead. O’Hagan bounced back in the second looking favourite to level the match, until Basnett produced a 41 break to steal the frame and extend his lead.
The players traded breaks in the third, with Basnett compiling a 40 break, and O’Hagan responding promptly with 37.

Inevitably, the frame came to a black ball conclusion, and it was Basnett who converted to ensure match victory. Basnett maintained the momentum in the fourth delivering his highest break, a seasons best of 59, to close out the frame convincingly and move into a 4-0 lead.
O’Hagan rallied in the final frame with some steady scoring to earn what may yet be a crucial point.
Mark Tunstall earned his first victory of the campaign defeating Andrew Mitchelhill 4-1. It was a contest where neither player was able to produce their most fluent form, but it was Tunstall who was able to repeatedly convert the telling pot at crucial points, gradually earning his way to a 3-0 lead.
A determined Mitchelhill put up a dogged display to take the fourth frame on the deciding black. However, it was Tunstall who finished the match stronger to wrap up a convincing match scoreline of 4-1.
In the Second Division, Stephen Jackson produced some of his best form to defeat nearest rival Chris Hunter.
Jackson made the best of the scoring opportunities in the opening frames to open up a 2-0 lead.
In the third frame neither player was able to seize the initiative, and with the game evenly balanced heading down to the final colours it was Jackson who was finally able to convert for a 3-0 lead.
The fourth frame followed a similar pattern and once again it was all to play for with only the colours remaining.
Maintaining the overall trend in the match, it was Jackson who delivered the conclusive pot to extend his lead further.
With match victory assured, Jackson held the momentum in the final frame to put the finishing touches to a resounding scoreline and march to the top of the Division.
