Workington Town in search for League One double of season

Workington Town go in search of their first League One double of the season tomorrow when they visit Swinton Lions.

Jonty Gorley’s men beat the Lions 32-12 at the Fibrus Community Stadium back in April since when they have established themselves in the top three of the table.

Ahead of the trip to take on the Lions, Town have signed Castleford Tigers youngsters Sam Grice and Andy Djeukessi on initial two-week loan deals.

Back-rower Grice and winger Djeukessi are part of Castleford’s reserves and academy sides.

Both are awaiting their professional club debuts although Grice played for Wales in last year’s World Cup qualifying defeat to France.

They are available for the Swinton trip and Newcastle Thunder at home next Sunday, June 22.

Coach Gorley said: “It’s great to get Andy and Sam in from Castleford for a couple of weeks, and both come highly recommended.

“Andy will add to our options in a position we need more depth in, and the same can be said about Sam.”

The 21-strong squad is: Ainley, Archer, Carter, Castle, Corkill, Doran, Djeukessi, Eccleston, Farrer, Fulton, Galea, Graham, Grice, Howlett, Hutton, Phillips, Reid, Scholey, Stephenson, Walker-Taylor, Wear,
