Bus fares set to increase in Cumbria

Bus fare prices are set to increase in Cumbria.

Stagecoach is increasing the price of some of its fares in Cumbria and North Lancashire from Wednesday July 16.

While most single tickets will see no change in price – single tickets priced at £2 or £1.30 for children and £2.30 or £1.50 for children will increase by 10p.

All other single tickets will remain frozen in price and the maximum price of a single journey will remain capped at £3.

Other fares including the £12 North West explorer ticket will also remain frozen in price.

A stagecoach spokesman said: “The money from fares goes towards paying for the day-to-day running of services as well as investing in new buses and other customer improvements.

“It also covers additional costs including paying government taxes, which support public services.”

DayRider/Explorer ticket costs

Adult:

  • Bay DayRider – £6
  • Central Lakes DayRider – £10
  • Lancashire DayRider – £10
  • North West Explorer – £12

Young Person:

  • Bay DayRider – £4.30
  • Central Lakes DayRider – £8
  • Lancashire DayRider – £5.70
  • North West Explorer – £9

MegaRider ticket costs

MegaRider Tickets:

  • Bay MegaRider – £22
  • North West Gold MegaRider – £37

Stagecoach said further details on the individual three day Explorer, 28 day Megarider, Flexi5, Flexi10 and MegaRider Xtra tickets for each area can be found individually on its website.
