After two trophy laden years in Scotland, Workington’s Rio Hardy has left Rangers to join Women’s Super League 2 side Bristol City on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old striker scored 62 goals in all competitions for Rangers, helping them win both the Scottish Cup and League Cup in successive years, as well as playing against eventual winners Arsenal in last season’s Women’s Champions League.
In her first interview on the club’s Robins TV channel, Rio said that she had heard good things about the club and that she couldn’t wait to get started, with the desire to score as many goals and help City win promotion to WSL 1.
Rio has also played for Blackburn Rovers, Coventry United and Durham City as well as in Iceland with Grindavik and Apollon in Cyprus, where she won two league titles alongside twin sister Steffi, who is now club captain.
