A prepared Lake District walker dislocated their knee while out on a ramble and managed to summon help with a whistle.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at around 1.25pm on Tuesday July 29 to Warnscale after a walker heard shouts for help and blasts of a whistle.
The team said: “Following some further investigation, it became apparent that a walker had fallen near Warnscale bothy, sustaining a painful knee injury.
“The team was called out and made its way down the valley and up the Honister Slate Mine track to Dubs Hut before making their way on foot.
“The casualty was quickly located in a precarious position, near the bothy.
“They were secured, and it was apparent that they had dislocated their knee. Fortunately, as the casualty was moved to a safer location, their knee relocated greatly reducing any pain.
“The team then splinted the leg before evacuating the individual to the vehicles and transporting the casualty to a waiting ambulance at Honister Slate Mine’s car park.
“The team wishes the casualty a speedy recovery.”
