Millom snatched victory in their West Lancashire League derby at Cleator Moor Celtic.
A goal from Ben McDonald was enough to take the spoils back to the south of the county.
It was a battling performance from last season’s Division One champions as chances were few and far between.
It needed a couple of really top saves from Ian Studholme in the first half and general tidy work from the Millom keeper which earned him the man of the match award.
Celtic had dominated possession in the first-half and created several chances but couldn’t make the vital first breakthrough.
Although they started the second half in similar fashion Millom stood firm and were rewarded for their resilience.

On 65 minutes a mistake in the Celtic defence saw a back pass played short and McDonald nipped in smartly to finish well.
Millom lie fifth after two matches (4pts) while Celtic are eighth (3pts).
On Saturday Celtic travel to early table leaders Eagley while Millom entertain Rossendale (12th).
