Around 700 people enjoyed SeaFest at St Bees last weekend.
The event, on Saturday August 2, was organised by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, and is an annual festival of the coast and marine life.
Event organiser, Yolanda Aze, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people at this year’s SeaFest at St Bees!
“It’s a celebration of the Irish Sea and the amazing variety of life found there. We also aim to raise awareness of the actions we can all take, to protect the ocean.
“Popular SeaFest activities included sustainable seafood tasters; kayaking and paddle boarding tasters; live animals on tour from the Lake District Coast Aquarium; scavenger hunts; a RNLI station tour and a planned lifeboat launch, theatre performances and sea shanties.
“We also held the annual sand sculpture competition. There was a fantastic representation of creatures, including octopuses, turtles, and sharks.

“There were also some less likely but highly creative sculptures including SpongeBob and a kraken!”
Prizes were donated by Lake District Coast Aquarium, The Beacon Museum, Florence Paintmakers, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Beach Road Bakehouse, Keswick Launch and Coniston Launch.
First prize went to the creators of Recycling Octopus! Turtle and basking shark were runners-up.
Beach artist Simon Wheatley created a mandala on the sand, depicting a crab with the message: Our Ocean – Our Future.
