Floral tributes to a Cumbrian dad have been stolen within hours of his funeral.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral of David Symes, known as Sykes, on Friday following his sudden death, aged 62 on July 24.

Yesterday morning, his partner Sharon and their children Amy and Natalie went to see his flowers at Carlisle Crematorium, only to find they had been stolen, along with two dog collars bought specially by Sykes and all the flowers’ cards.

Funeral director Jill Glencross said: “We think the flowers were taken within hours of the funeral.

“His loving family were devastated by his death and are devastated enough without this. Whoever decided to steal these tributes please get them put back immediately. This is absolutely disgusting.”

The police have been informed and there is CCTV footage available for officers to investigate, Jill said.

Anyone with information should call Cumbria police on 101.
