Rusland staged its third and final meeting on Wednesday with 16 hounds entered over the three races.
Seven of them took part in the opening senior trail with Huntsman’s Time sent off favourite for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little.
Passing the trail field Huntsman’s Time was leading the race well from Lucky Lottie for Geoff Higgins, Miterdale Green Queen for Sophie Steele, Zach and Jake Green, and Lucky Moon for Geoff Higgins.
There was then a small gap to Miterdale Duchess for Denis Peare and Jackie Gill.
As they climbed up the fell Huntsman’s Time still had a slight lead from litter mates and kennel mates Lucky Lottie and Lucky Moon.
There was then a small gap to Miterdale Green Queen in fourth and another gap to Miterdale Duchess.
When they showed onto the finish Miterdale Green Queen looked as though she was coming to win the race but was just passed in the final stride by Huntsman’s Time who won by a head.
Miterdale Green Queen had to settle for second with Lucky Moon and Lucky Lottie in third and fourth.
Miterdale Duchess finished in fifth and the final ticket went to Lily for Barbara Jones.
The pups had a field of four and Jenny’s Chance for Denise and Jenny Bland, Graham Little and Ella and Kyle Gallacher was sent off as the favourite.
When they climbed up the fell three had broken clear, with Jenny’s Chance leading the way from kennel mate Huntsman’s Unite for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little and Let It Be for Ruth and Charlie Dixon.
The trio pulled away throughout the trail and raced each other well with them all leading the race at some point.
As they showed on the finish Jenny’s Chance finished well to claim her third win at the venue ahead of kennel mate Huntsman’s Unite giving Denise, Jenny and Graham their third one-two at Rusland and a double on the night.
Let It Be finished well in third and Miterdale Wow took fourth for Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele.
The final race of the evening was for the Open Restricted with five entries.
Black Eyed Shadow for John Lyon was sent off favourite.
As they climbed up the fell Let’s Go For It was leading the way from Miterdale Honesty for Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele with Huntsman’s Quirk for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little in third.
The favourite Black Eyed Shadow was back in fourth.
As they showed on the finish Miterdale Honesty finished well to claim the victory from Let’s Go For It with Black Eyed Shadow in third and Huntsman’s Quirk fourth.
The final ticket went to Classmate for Donna Bingham, Richard Gardener and Barry Laidler.
