Barrow Raiders women’s coach Amanda Wilkinson admitted the team has been through a season like no other.
Not once has she been able to retain an unchanged line-up as injuries have played a major part in their disappointing results.
The Raiders finished seventh in the Super League after they were two places higher in their initial season last year.
She says: “It has been a really tough season but tough seasons come with lots of benefits.
“One thing the players can really take from it is a lesson.
“In the 25 years I have been coaching, this has been a really unusual season. I have had to look at indivioduals and set goals individually.
“I can say that evbery player has achieved and improved but as a team we’ve just lacked any real consistency.
“We’ve had too many injuries but I have been impressed with the girls’ attitude, resilience and mental toughness.
“We took some really heavy defeats and in those games they kept playing for the full 80 minutes and stuck together.
“There is a lot we can reflect on over the off-season and that can only stand us in good stead for next year.”
