Storm Amy has hit Cumbrian sport with matches postponed.

It has been announced that because of yesterday’s wet and windy weather, forecast to get worse today, a number of fixtures were already called off.

All youth matches and the Cumberland County League programme have been postponed.

Senior clubs like Penrith and Kendal will have to inspect ahead of their games this afternoon.

Workington Reds game against FC United has been postponed due to safety reasons.

An inspection of Borough Park this morning ahead of the FA Trophy tie revealed Storm Amy had lifted the roof of the Popular Side.

Workington AFC said they would share news of the new fixture date as soon as they had it.

It seems likely that a number of games lower down the pyramid will have to be postponed.

Rugby union

In rugby union an early casualty was the Counties 1 Cumbria fixture between Ambleside and Keswick 2nds.

The Lakes club have called off the game because of pitch conditions.

Keswick v Morpeth is off.

Several other rugby clubs in the county are holding pitch inspections.

Cumberland ARL

The Cumberland ARL showpiece the Cumberland Cup final is expected to be the subject of an inspection.
