North Cumbria Search and Rescue will hold an event next month to help recruit new volunteers.
The event will be held at Carlisle East Fire Station on Saturday November 22 between 1pm and 3pm.
Team leader Duncan Sanders will give a presentation at 1.30pm with a Q&A afterwards and an opportunity to meet some of the team.
North Cumbria Search and Rescue said it was looking for both operational and non-operational voluntary team members.
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
The team is on call 24/7 and work with local emergency services across our inland waterways.
As well as search and rescue call outs and team training, members take part in numerous outreach events across Carlisle, north Cumbria and beyond and also local fundraising activities.
Duncan said: “We are privileged to have such a committed and dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom have been with the team since we formally set up the charity in 2019.
“It was Storm Desmond, and other local flooding events, that inspired us to create the team and we are here to help relieve suffering and distress among people endangered by accidents or natural hazards.
“Our team are qualified as swift water technicians, as well as in local land search and we train to the same standard as the local emergency services we work alongside.
“In recent months a few team members have moved out of the county and we are looking for both operational and non-operational team members to join the team.
“Earlier this year we reported that in the last 12 months our team of 40 had contributed 3,500 volunteer hours supporting the local community, and we only expect that number to keep growing.
“We are all volunteers and rely on the kindness of donations and grants from across the local community to stay operational.”
