Having won their Cumbrian derby with Penrith two weeks ago, Kendal will want to follow up on the resumption of league fixtures.
Refreshed by a week off after their last gasp win over the Winters Park side, Kendal travel to Blaydon for the next round of Regional 1 North East games.
By contrast Blaydon will show resolve of a different kind as they will no doubt aim to put behind the memory of their last league performance a 32-24 defeat at York – which was the Minstermen’s first League win of the season.
Blaydon, however, still lead Kendal in the table – two points better off in 7th with the Mint Bridge side right behind them with the same playing record of 3, 0, 4. Blaydon are also plus 47 in the points differential while Kendal are minus five.
Penrith are back at home on Saturday against Sandal and it’s one they will expect to win, sitting fifth in the table, 14 points and five places better off than their visitors.
The Cumbrians were denied a run out last week in the County Cup when Aspatria pulled out because of front row issues but the break will have given some of Penrith’s injured a little more time to recover.
Keswick proudly lead the way for Cumbria in Regional 2 North, sitting second in the table, closing the gap to leaders Northern last week with a 23-15 home win over Morpeth.
On Saturday they are at home again with Guisborough travelling over from the north east with Martin Maughan set to referee.
All dependent, of course, on the Davidson Park pitch being clear of the floodwater experienced earlier in the week.
Guisborough are next to bottom but will have been encouraged by their 38-19 win over Aspatria a fortnight ago.
For their part the Black Reds need to start picking up points again after sliding down the table to sit third bottom.
As the club with the most County Cup wins since the competition started in 1882 it will have pained Aspatria to have conceded last week’s quarter-final tie at Penrith.
Hopefully the front row will be back to strength for the visit of Percy Park as the visitors are going well, third top at the moment.
Martin Denvir is the appointed referee.
Aspatria’s neighbours Wigton are still looking for their first win of the season but have been making progress with performances.
They could easily have sneaked through last week’s County Cup tie at Upper Eden before going down 28-24.
Fourth in the table Sunderland are the visitors to Lowmoor Road on Saturday when Durham exchange referee Andy Black will officiate.
Upper Eden have made a solid mid-table start but will expect to be tested at Pennine Park when unbeaten League leaders Northern are the visitors.
Aiden Muller, Eden’s South African scrum-half has created a big impression already and is likely to be a key figure in the clash with 100% Northern.
Simon Barker will be the referee.
Counties 1 Cumbria kicks off on Friday night with an interesting confrontation at Winters Park where Penrith A entertain unbeaten Carlisle.
The city side have won five out of five and their only obvious threat at the moment comes from Hawcoat Park, who have a similar record but are two points behind.
Jonny Watson will be the man in the middle for this one.
Hawcoat Park travel to revitalised Ambleside, who are up to the heady heights of third in the table.
It’s the league’s match of the day on Saturday and Mike Firby will be in charge.
Other games on Saturday are: Cockermouth v Keswick 2nds (Stephen Elliott); Creighton v Windermere (Alistair Jones); Millom v Kirkby Lonsdale (Cieran Trainor); Egremont v Whitehaven (Dan Shovelton); Workington v St Benedict’s (Danny Airey).
