Whitehaven have announce the re-signing of club captain Jordan Burns.
It means the former Kells amateur will remain at The Ortus Rec until the end of 2027.
Burns returned to the club last season for his second spell with the club having ended his first spell at the end of the 2019 season as a League One winner and joining Workington Town.
Having missed a large part of the campaign due to a facial injury picked up in the Easter derby meeting against Workington in April which kept the captain out until the penultimate game of the campaign.
He made 10 appearances scoring five tries and landing 14 goals.
He rounded-off his 2025 campaign representing Cumbria in last weekend’s 70-6 victory over Nigeria starting the game at centre and also deputising at full back during the contest.
After securing the services of his captain for the next two seasons Haven head coach Anthony Murray said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have our captain re-sign with the club.
“He’s had a tough spell with injury last season, but his dedication and attitude throughout have been first class and to see him back out on the field recently representing Cumbria against Nigeria was fantastic and shows the kind of character he is.
“He leads by example both on and off the field, and having him back at the heart of our team is a massive boost.
“We’re all looking forward to seeing him lead the lads into the new season.”
