Kendal Town made progress last night in the Brooks Mileson League Cup, the Northern League’s knockout competition.
Fielding a team packed with members of their Under-23s and Under-18s squads they beat Division Two side Chester-le-Street 5-2 at Parkside Road.
Matty Casson’s debut goal on 13 minutes gave Kendal a good start and a screamer from Joe Dickson on 38 minutes took them into the break with a 2-0 lead.
The visitors threatened a com-back when Nathan Stephenson reduced the arrears on the hour, but three goals in five minutes put Kendal completely in command.
Jamie Looker scored a quick double with goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes while Niall Cowperthwaite grabbed the fifth on 67 minutes.
Chester-le-Street pulled one back through Mathan Conry on 76 minutes but Kendal eased their way to the finish line.
